Willie Lee Dozier

February 15, 1943 – August 5, 2026 Willie Lee Dozier, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at the age of 83. Willie was born on February 15, 1943, in Andrews, South Carolina. He received his education there and proudly graduated from Rose Mary High School. In 1960, following his graduation, Willie relocated to Rochester, New York, where he joined his mother and siblings and began building a life rooted in hard work, faith, and family. Willie began his career at Kodak Park, where he worked faithfully for 25 years before retiring. His dedication and strong work ethic were just a few of the qualities that defined the man he was. Above all else, Willie cherished his family. He was a devoted father to his children, Darryl (Sammi) Dozier, Trenia Dozier, and Michael Dozier. He also shared a special fatherly bond with his brother-in-law, Charles Kermit Miller, whom Willie lovingly considered his “bonus child.” Charles came to live with Willie after losing his mother at the age of 13, and their relationship remained a meaningful part of Willie’s life. Willie was also the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and great-grandfather of seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought tremendous joy, love, and pride into his life. Willie was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Anna B. Dozier, and his brothers, Joseph Dozier and David Lee Gibson. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Anna L. Dozier of Rochester, New York; half-sister, Helen Gibson Gaillard of Englewood, New Jersey; his dear friend, Mary Timmons, affectionately known as “Sista”; as well as his extended family, church family, and countless relatives and friends near and far who will deeply miss his presence. Willie was a man of strong and unwavering faith who dedicated his life to his family, his church, and those he loved. For at least 35 years, he was a faithful member of Open Door Baptist Church, where his commitment to the Lord remained an important part of his life. His church family held a special place in his heart, and his faith provided him with strength, comfort, and guidance throughout the years. Outside of his faith and family, Willie appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf, as well as going out to dinner, enjoying baked goods, and spending quality time with family and friends. Those who knew and loved Willie will remember the happiness he found in these moments and the many memories created along the way. Willie Lee Dozier leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, love, strength, and cherished memories. Although his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the lessons he shared, and the lives he touched will continue to live on through everyone blessed to have known him.
