Suzanne E. Bleier

Thursday, February 15, 2024 at age 64. Predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Dorothy Scheer. Survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Stephen; children, Stephanie (Kemor) Lawrence and Travis (Conor) Bleier; grandchildren, Kiella and Kahleel; sister, Ellen Scheer Heath (Pete Spoor); and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and dear friends. Suzanne (Suzy Q) was born in Rochester, New York on Valentine’s Day; a natural romantic. She graduated from Webster Schroeder High School and made many friends who would end up becoming lifelong friends whom she loved. Sue met and quickly fell for the love of her life Steve at the age of 20, they tied the knot in the summer of 1983 in the company of their beloved family and friends. In her mid 20's Sue and Steve moved out of Gates to Wheatland where they would begin the next chapter of their lives together. Welcoming two children, Stephanie in 1990 and Travis in 1993, Sue took on a new challenge in being a mother. Love, compassion, endearment, kindness, fearlessness and strength were all qualities that Sue not only possessed but mastered. She constantly put her children's needs before her own from the very minute they were born. Sue spent countless hours attending local ice arenas, soccer fields and sports complexes rain or shine to watch her children practice and play. Even being a petite woman, ‘Spitfire Sue’ was never afraid to voice her opinion of a bad call or a great play. After years of recreational skating Sue laced up her skates to play with the "Chicks with Sticks" women’s hockey team. Sue was more than just a mother to her children; she was also a mom to her children's friends, nieces, nephews and just about any animal that would show up to her home. Whether it be a stray cat or a flock of geese, there was always a bowl of food and water and a full bird feeder nearby. Sue truly was a friend to all who knew her. Sue was an avid musician with an amazing voice; a passion she shared throughout her entire life; singing in several musical productions and the church choir at St. Pius X and St. Columba. She also sang the star spangled banner at the Amerks and Red Wings games. Sue was an animal lover who cherished her horses and participated in several shows taking home blue ribbons in English riding and jumping. Sue loved her cats too, spoiling them to no end. Sue loved to spend her summers on the lake enjoying swimming, sailing, boating and general relaxing with family and friends while watching beautiful sunsets and cooking smores by the campfire. Sue’s ideal evening consisted of playing cards with family and friends, listening to classic rock and sipping on a drink or two. Sue lived her life to the fullest. She battled breast cancer twice in her life but she didn't want it to define her. She was blessed to have a large support team of family, friends caregivers, medical professionals and fellow fighters she met along the way. Even during the darkest days, Sue was quick to search for a silver lining and keep charging forward. She is truly an inspiration to the people who knew her or her story. Suzy Q will truly be missed and admired but never forgotten. Family and friends may call Thursday, Feb. 29th from 4-7pm at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home.
