Ruth S. Fraty

Ruth S. Fraty Chili: Friday, November 21, 2025 at age 98. Predeceased by her husband, Harold “Bob”; and nephew, David Ortman. Survived by her sister, Evelyn (Edward) Ortman; nieces, Christine (Derek) Arcara and Susan Anderson; great-niece & nephew, Lindsay (Aaron) Luna and Daniel (Olivia) Otto; and many other nieces, nephews and dear friends. It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved member of our family. She was married for over 60 years to her devoted husband Bob, sharing a lifetime of love and companionship. Her passion for gardening and the outdoors brought her joy and a deep connection to nature, which she cherished throughout her life. Born and raised in the 19th ward of Rochester, Ruth then became a dedicated resident of Chili for more than 50 years, actively participating in community life and fostering strong bonds with her neighbors. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a regular attendee at her church, served as a deacon and contributed to many events, exemplifying her commitment to her faith and service to others. Ruth had a fulfilling career working as an insurance agent. She began her career at Lucas and Dake in downtown Rochester, then Merrone and Dretto agency until 1981 when she worked for the Mannella agency until she retired. For over 30 years, Ruth and her husband found joy in being “snowbirds”, spending winters at their home in the Tampa, Florida area. Ruth also volunteered at Highland Hospital for many years, achieving over 1,000 volunteer service hours. In 2020, Ruth was presented with the Rochester Business Journal volunteer award for her service to the hospital. Her family was central to her life; she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, who will remember her warmth and generosity. Her life was marked by love, service, and a zest for life that touched everyone she met. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. Family and friends are invited to Ruth's Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 20th, at 10 AM at Gates Presbyterian Church, 1049 Wegman Rd. Rochester, NY 14624. Private interment at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
