Michael L. Vaccaro

Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at age 80. Survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley; children, Michael Jr. (Michelle) Vaccaro and Lisa (Scott) Sciarrino; step-children, Tony (Connie) Viggiani, Michael Viggiani and Stefanie (Craig) Hook; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends, Larry (Maria) Steubing and Judy Goins. Michael Vaccaro was known affectionately by family as "Chief". Mike enjoyed a lifetime of driving truck and was known to drive doubles with great skill. He enjoyed going to work and was well liked by his co-workers. On weekends Mike would often spend time going to the stock car races with friends that he met at work. Additionally, every Friday night you could find him with a small group of friends at a favorite neighborhood restaurant. Mike was never one for a loss of words or encouragement. When Mike was a young man, he lived in Henrietta where he raised his two children. In 1994 Mike met Shirley who he was married to for 30 years. He often remarked that back in the 60's he had met Shirley, who was unavailable at the time. He felt that it was meant to be that they met later in life. When first married Mike and Shirley spent several years traveling, often going on cruises or road trips. Mike was known to be a jokester and would often comment when the joke was on him, "Hey I have feelings too!". Mike was always there to lend a helping hand and later in life he found solitude and peace attending Calvary Assembly where he made many new friends. Mike enjoyed attending Church service every Sunday. Monthly Mike would go to the American Red Cross to donate RBCs or plasma finding comfort that his AB blood type would benefit many recipients. Mike also enjoyed hunting with his son Mike Jr and friends. Mike always offered to share deer meat. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed shooting and enjoyed teaching others. As time went on, Mike began to open up about his childhood growing up in Rochester and always had a special place in his heart for his sister, Eleanor. Mike will be dearly missed by both friends and family. We will never forget him. Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Service Wednesday, Oct. 29th at 11am at Calvary Assembly, 3429 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
