Maureen Rose Stewart

Maureen Rose Stewart, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully after a courageous and unwavering battle with Parkinson’s Disease on June 9, 2026 at the age of 71. Maureen was born on October 26,1954 in Rochester, NY to the late Roy and Elizabeth Heisel. After high school, Maureen spent many years working for Rochester Community Savings Bank focusing on high-level mortgage transactions. Maureen was highly skilled in this profession and truly enjoyed her time in the banking industry. After working at Rochester Community Savings Bank, she enjoyed her time working at the University of Rochester, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the Aquinas Institute. She also spent time volunteering at the Gates Police Department after retirement. Maureen married John “Jack” Stewart in 1980. They remained close for the rest of her life, and he supported her until passing. Maureen and Jack welcomed their son Justin in 1984. Maureen believed her greatest role in life was being a mother to Justin. Maureen was the best mother a son could ask for. From birth, the two were inseparable. Justin and his wife, Sarah, are heartbroken by the loss. Maureen took great joy in loving her grandchildren, Aiden, Ava, and Cameron “C.J.” She took immense pride in their milestones and accomplishments. The memories she created with them will be cherished for years to come. In addition to Justin and her grandchildren, Maureen is survived by her siblings, Gerard, James, Virginia, Mary Therese (Lawrence Galusha), and Anne, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Eric. The siblings supported Maureen throughout her journey and were by her side until the end. She cherished the lifelong bond they shared and the many memories they created together. Maureen had a special love for animals and had a soft spot for dogs and cats. She found great joy in their companionship and cared for them with a kind and gentle heart. She shared a special bond with her French Bulldog Sammy who faithfully stayed by her side throughout life’s joys and challenges. Maureen’s family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace and is reunited with those who passed before her. Her memory will be cherished always, and their love for her will continue. Family and Friends are invited to a funeral mass for Maureen at St. Pius X Church, 3000 Chili Ave on Thursday June 18th, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be immediately after the mass at St. Pius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. (https://www.parkinson.org/?form=19983)
