Jess D. Sudol

Jess Daniel Sudol, 44, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on Saturday, January 3, 2026 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. His life was defined not by the illness he faced, but by the extraordinary love, faith, and purpose he brought into the world every day. Survived by his wife of 19 years, Kelly; children, Aubrey and Brynn; parents, Stephen and Mary; sister, Lyndsy (Corvin) Buck; mother-in-law, Nancy Fowlkes; and sisters-in-law, Krista (Josh) Tompkins and Megan (Nick) Henry. Jess lived his faith through action — in the way he treated people, the integrity he carried into his work, and the compassion he showed to anyone who needed a steady hand or a listening ear. He was an accomplished civil engineer, spending 24 years at Passero Associates, where he began as an intern and rose through dedication, talent, and leadership to become President of the firm. He served on the board of many non-profits and charitable institutions. His colleagues and clients knew him as a great communicator, a mentor, and someone who led with humility and conviction. He was married to the love of his life for 19 years, and together they built a home filled with laughter, partnership, and unwavering devotion. As a father, he was the center of his children’s world — their greatest sideline fan, teacher, and protector. As a son, brother, mentor, and friend, he offered wisdom without judgment, humor without effort, and support without hesitation. Outside of work he loved hunting and fishing at the Iroquois Club, skiing, and spending time in the Outer Banks of North Carolina - family traditions that connected him to nature and to the people he loved most. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 9th from 4 to 7pm and the celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 10am, both at Calvary Assembly, 3429 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY 14624.
