Gary A. Hale

Gary A. Hale Ogden - Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at age 80. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sharon; children, Darcie (Bob) Kozlowski, Tracy Washburn and Stephen Riley; grandchildren, Meagan (AJ), Christopher, Mikayla, Liv and Jake; great-grandchildren, Max, Rosie and Cal; siblings, Duane (Carolyn) Hale and Linda (Kenneth) Swyers; brother-in-law, Jerry (Donna) Davis; and several nieces, nephews, dear friends and his fur baby, Malika. Gary was a 1961 graduate of Letchworth Central School. During high school, he was a four time NYS Section V wrestling champion in the unlimited weight class. He was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012. After graduation Gary married his high-school sweetheart Sharon Davis and were blessed to have 60 years together. Gary also graduated from Simmons School of Embalming in 1962 and went to work at Corbett Funeral Home. He then went to work at General Motors for the next 30 years as a product engineer. Shortly after starting at GM, he was drafted into the army and served in Vietnam. Gary’s greatest love was his family; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to hunt, fish, travel and read. Some of his most precious memories of traveling were the trips he took to Paris, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Florida fishing trips, camping and hunting trips, Honor Flight and Myrtle Beach. Gary was forced to retire young due to heart disease, but thanks to many incredible doctors, he was able to live another 30 blessed years with his family. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Ridder, Dr. Massey, and Dr. Scott Feitell without whom these past 30 would not have been possible. Dr. Feitell and his staff went above and beyond to keep Gary here at any measure. The family is eternally grateful for all that they did. Also a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of the ICU at Rochester General Hospital for their compassionate care. Family and friends may call at the Leo M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
