Edward F. Caster Chili: Saturday, September 12, 2026 at age 90. Predeceased by his infant daughter, Margaret Mary; infant son, Thomas Edward; daughter, Patricia; and grandson, Michael John. Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ellen; children, Mary Ellen (Robert) Dunning and Ted (Cheryle) Caster; grandchildren, Nicole Hunter, Nicholas (Christina) Caster, Ryan Dunning, Thomas Caster, Maire (Michael) Jelenic, Autumn Hunter and Margaret (Nicholas) Colucci; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Tricia, Ian, Eli, Aria, Noelle and Lucy; sister, Joyce Eaton; and dear friends. Edward F. Caster “Ed” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness, faith, dedication, and love of music touched the lives of many. Ed attended Ithaca College before being drafted into military service in 1959. He was stationed at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he proudly played trumpet in the West Point Band. While working at Kodak, he became a member of the Kodak Band. He continued sharing his love of music by playing in several community bands throughout the years, bringing joy to others through his music. A man of deep faith and prayer, Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was actively involved in his parish community. For 35 years, he served as a pianist with the St. Pius Music Ministry, where his commitment made him a beloved part of the church. Ed’s greatest devotion was to his wife, Ellen. Married for 65 wonderful years, they built a beautiful marriage centered around Christ. He took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He especially cherished the many years spent with Ellen and the memories they created together with their children and grandchildren. Ed will be remembered for his gentle spirit, strong faith, devotion to those he loved, and the joy he brought to others through his music. His memory will remain a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Family and friends may call Friday, September 18th from 4-7pm at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Saturday 11am at St. Pius Tenth Church, 3000 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses may be offered in Ed’s memory or memorial donations may be made to the St. Pius Tenth Church.
