Christopher Thomas Steubing Churchville: Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at age 65. Predeceased by his parents, Richard L. and Claire (Darby) Steubing; brother, Richard M. Steubing; and father-in-law, Rev. John Van Brederode. Survived by Lisa Steubing; his children, Amanda (Marc) Evanchik, Rachael Steubing and Ryan (Kaitlyn) Steubing; granddaughter, Harper Lillian Evanchik; siblings, Mark (Patty) Steubing, Mary Jo (Frank) Melia and Matthew Steubing; mother-in-law, Gladys Van Brederode; brothers and sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Christopher Thomas Steubing was one of five children born to Claire & Dick Steubing on March 7, 1959. The family grew up on Lettington Ave. in Gates, NY. Chris attended St. Helen’s Schooling, graduating from Cardinale Mooney H.S. and received his bachelor’s degree from R.I.T. Chris loved to stay active and did everything from skiing, figure skating, bowling, tennis, and golfing. He was passionate about the arts and created many of his own original works. He loved to decorate the Senators Mansion and dedicated much of his time to his beautiful gardens. He loved to make people happy, and he was truly happiest while vacationing with his family in Cape Cod or on Limekiln Lake in the Adirondack Mountains. Chris was a very accomplished entrepreneur and was born to be a part of the hospitality industry. Midway in life, he took on the adventure of starting his own business. With hard work and family dedication, they were able to open the doors to Gatherings at the Senators Mansion (Churchville, NY) followed by Gatherings at the Daisy Flour Mill (Penfield, NY). Through the growth of Gatherings, Chris was able to make many successful partnerships with places such as the George Eastman House, Casa Larga, Memorial Art Gallery, University of Rochester and Strong Hospital. It was within these partnerships that Chris was able to make many meaningful connections and one of his many gifts was the ability to create unforgettable memories during any special event. A Celebration of Life for Chris will be held at the Church of Epiphany on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lollypop Farm or the Rev. John H. Van Brederode Scholarship Fund.
