Rosalie S. Cinotti "Cookie" Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Saturday, July 30, 2022 at age 79. Predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Rose Marciano; sisters, Palma Roy, Marie Menna and Gloria Yost. Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard; daughter, Terra Toole; grandchildren, Cody and Melina; brother, Anthony S. (Josephine) Marciano; sister-in-law, Lorraine Marciano; several nieces, nephews, dear friends and beloved dog, Jeter. Cookie was born the youngest of five in an immigrant family in Rochester, NY. She lost her mother at a very young age and her siblings took the role of helping to raise her very seriously. Being the baby of the family had its perks and fostered her mischievous personality. She fell in love with Richard (Dick) in high school and married shortly after. They made their home in Chili, NY, and together raised their beautiful daughter, Terra. As a young woman, she worked as a switchboard operator, a hairdresser, and later in life serving lunches to students young and old at many different schools as well as Lifetime Assistance. However, it was not her work that defined her but her bond with her family, love of cooking (she was known for her bacon sauce and creamy mashed potatoes), and a take-charge attitude! Cookie commanded every room she entered with her big hair, that crazy whistle or “achoo”, and genuine hostess spirit. Caregiver to so many over the span of her life, she was always supporting others, especially her beloved sisters. She paid close attention to those she knew and loved and made everyone around her feel special whether it was her crazy sense of humor, gathering to eat her Sunday sauce or making that phone call -- or maybe 15 phone calls in an hour -- to check in on you. Names she went by were Cookie, Aunt Cookie, Cook, however, it is fair to say that her favorite names were Mom and Nana. She loved her daughter Terra and her grandkids Cody and Melina more than life itself. She never missed any event, big or small, and of course you knew when Cookie had arrived. In her early years, she enjoyed racing cars in the Powder Puff League and hanging out in the hair salon just for the conversation and sharing the latest news. She was well-known in the Chili community, especially at St. Pius Church, because her faith was strong, and she cherished her Pius family. She volunteered at countless events, but her favorites were the flea market and St. Joseph’s Table. Spending time with family at the Port Bay Lake house – holidays and celebrations – created wonderful memories and brought so much joy for her. There was always lots of family, friends, laughter, love, and SO MUCH food. Cookie was extremely stubborn, kind hearted, effervescent, boisterous, larger-than-life, and unique in so many ways. She leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be replaced. Family and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 9th at 10am at St. Pius Tenth Church, 3000 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. Interment, St. Pius Cemetery.
