Richard P. Rohrberg Rochester - Richard Paul (Dick) Rohrberg passed on December 30th, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Vascular Dementia. He was born on May 25, 1941 in Portchester, NY as the son of the late Paul and Mary Rohrberg and the brother of the late Mary Lou McCreadie. Dick was raised in Watertown, NY and graduated from Watertown High School. He attended SUNY Brockport and earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Mathematics Education. A Master of Science in Mathematics Education from Bowdoin College came some years later during a one-year sabbatical to Brunswick, ME. He taught Math at Gates Chili High School for 33 years. At Gates, he served as the National Honor Society advisor and was the varsity football and basketball announcer for many years. After his retirement he served as a full-time substitute at West Irondequoit High School for ten more years. He was a long-time member of the Rochester District Umpires Association and officiated countless high school baseball and men's league softball games in the area. He also ran the Greece Recreation Summer Sports Program and Paddy Hill Playground. Dick was always a competitor, and enjoyed being part of the Lyme and Walworth Trap Clubs' shooting teams for many years. He also devoted his time to help young shooters at both clubs learn and enjoy the sport. Dick loved sports and the outdoors, and much of his life revolved around fishing and hunting. His other hobbies included antique and coin collecting, model trains, and Duplicate Bridge. He was a life-long learner who achieved his life master's status in bridge. He was an accomplished billiards player and traveled to compete in trap shooting, winning many national senior trap shooting awards. When he wasn't outside, you could find him watching college basketball, especially his favorite Duke Blue Devils and Coach K. Dick built two vacation homes in Cape Vincent with his own hands and spent much of the last thirty years in the Thousand Islands. Dick is predeceased by his wife Ann (Petrie-Balonek) Rohrberg. He is survived by children, Richard Jr (Anna) Rohrberg, Barbara Martorana, Debbie Carpenter, Scott Balonek, and his beloved cat companion Trigger. His grandchildren, Cassidy and Tyler Rohrberg, Joshua (Kayla) and Jesse Stein, Miranda, Jordan and Diana Martorana, and his great grandchildren Mason and Avery Stein.
