Peter J. Makarewicz, PhD Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Peacefully, Monday, July 4, 2022 at age 70 with his loving wife by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Dr. L. John and Mary Makarewicz; infant son, Michael Joseph; and sister, Barbara Martin. Survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Barbara (Davis); children, Laura (Mathew) Thomas, Susan Makarewicz and Peter Makarewicz; grandchildren, Michael and Brennan Thomas and Everly Makarewicz; loving sister, Betty Paluch; daughter-in-law, Colleen; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Peter graduated with highest honors as Valedictorian from the University of Notre Dame and received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University. He retired in 2009 after a 32 year professional career at Eastman Kodak and Rohm and Haas. Pete began his career as a Research Scientist in chemical process engineering at Kodak. From there he took many leadership roles within Kodak and Rohm and Haas. After retirement he served as an Adjunct Visiting Professor at the University of Rochester. Pete’s devotion to developing top performing teams within his industry helped to build effective and enjoyable work relationships throughout his entire career and beyond. Throughout his storied career, his greatest joy and love remained his family. He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Brook-Lea Country Club and also, later in life, discovered the health benefits of boxing at Rock Steady Boxing, which later became Wellness.360.
