Ilze Bullwinkel, May 15, 2022. Unexpectedly, age 68. Predeceased by her parents, Janis & Zelma Karlsons; and her in-laws, Albert Sr. & Betty Bullwinkel. Ilze was born on May 22, 1953, in Rochester. She grew up in Gates, around the corner from Sky Acres horse farm, where she was often found sitting by the fences. Horses were her life’s passion. Ilze is survived by her husband of 42 years, Albert; children, Emmy (Don) Thevanesan, Marty (Melinda) Bullwinkel & Daina (Mike) Druzynski; grandchildren, Lukas, Lija, Livija, Martin & Thomas; siblings, Maija (James) McLean, Andris (Inta Erenfelds) Karlsons, Velta (David) Huck, Irene (Bryan) Doktor; brothers & sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. Ilze’s heart was huge, and simply put, she made life fun. Her family and many friends are devastated to lose her too soon. She will be missed most by Albert, her husband and life partner through three beautiful kids and their spouses, five adored grandchildren, horses, dogs, cats, chickens, parties, boating, bonfires, and cocktails by the picnic table. May we all live a life so full. Family & friends are invited to call at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home Sunday 11am-3pm. Her funeral will be Monday, May 23, 2022, 11 am, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 1900 Westfall Road, Rochester, NY 14618. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to one of the organizations important to Ilze, the Latvian Lutheran Church of the Cross or the Daugavas Vanagi of Rochester.
