Dennis F. Cozan, 75, died April 20, 2021. After a long and considerable battle, he passed on his own terms - surrounded by the three great loves of his life. Dennis was the oldest of 7 growing up in a family with limited means. This instilled a strong work ethic, drive to provide and thriftiness that would carry throughout his life. His mother, Isabelle, passed at a young age; feeling the need to do right by mom and his siblings he saw himself as protector and proxy parental figure. He did his best to support his siblings' continued education and provide emotional support and guidance. Through all this he discovered his passion - electrical work - becoming a master electrician. He built his own business, Cozan Electric, from the ground up; training and employing many of his friends and siblings. After many successful years in business, he decided to expand his knowledge and experience with different companies and organizations - Eastman Kodak Company, IBEW Local 86 and other locals traveling nationally. Over the years he made many great friends and coworkers. He loved traveling, meeting, helping and supporting people from all different walks of life. Dennis was also actively involved with the community and supporting charitable organizations. He especially enjoyed his time with the Rochester School District STEM program, he loved to be able to ignite a passion for learning and science with the kids. He was involved with starting up the National Association of People with Disabilities in Rochester. For many years he was actively involved with the Democratic party, running for local office in Chili several times. During that time, he enjoyed meeting and campaigning with a variety of people including Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Louise Slaughter. Dad was a builder; a creator and he loved a challenge. He built two beautiful houses and purchased and moved an enormous Wells Barn to the first house. He loved his family deeply and was loyal beyond belief. He loved electrical work, golfing, great food, personal improvement and investing; and he loved sharing those things with family and friends. His guiding principles: the universe has a balance, do what you love and if you fail, get back up and try again. Close family will have fond memories of him reading "The Night Before Christmas" on Christmas Eve for years until passing the tradition on to his nephew, Sean, great nephew, Zack and grandson, Lukas. Friends will likely chuckle remembering his famous uniform of tan button-down shirt, blue jeans with suspenders and steel toe boots. Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Isabelle; brothers, Christopher and Timothy; sister-in-law, Carolyn; and niece, Kara. Survived by his wife, Janice; daughter, Christina Cozan (Markus Kunz grandchildren, Lukas and Liam; special friend, Amy Chung; siblings, Terry Cozan, Patty (Bob) Pierce, Trudy (Vinnie) Cozan-Strenk and Kathy (Mike) Gala; sister-in-law, Kim (Steve) Mills; his beloved aunt, Doris Smith; several cousins; several nieces and nephews; great nieces & nephews and several wonderful friends.
