Mary Ellen Martin "Bobby"

On March 22, 2025, Mary Ellen Martin (AKA Bobby) left the loving arms of her family and the staff of Faith 2 East at Monroe Community Hospital to join the loved ones she had missed for so long. They include her parents, Ernie and Mary Martin, Aunt Ivy, Grandma Nellie and many friends. She leaves a treasure trove of memories for her sister, Donna Martin Willome (David); nephews and nieces David Martin Willome, Elizabeth Willome, Mary and Patrick Willome; and especially her great nephews, Jason, Isaac and Connor Willome whom she adored. Family was everything to her. Bobby leaves behind her best friend and “pineapple sister”, Jeane Corbett & special friends, Abbie Boston, Mary Carlson and Dorothy Wallace; cousins, Maureen Galvin, Kathleen Albertson, Nancy Simpson and others. Born on Christmas eve 1948 at a ‘quarter to twelve” she grew up in a wonderful neighborhood on Margaret St. in the 19th ward. She was a proud graduate of the school to work program at Jefferson High School and worked in food service at Highland Hospital for over 28 years. She could take a bus anywhere in the city and tell you how to get there. Bobby loved: Mickey Mouse, I Love Lucy, taking pictures, talking on the phone, writing letters, family events and tuna sandwiches. She traveled to Hawaii, Boston, Cape Cod, England and twice to Ireland. For many years she traveled annually to Cleveland to visit our English cousins. After Mom passed, Bobby found her way to Linden Knoll where she flourished for almost a decade. She moved to Faith 2 East in 2022 and was lovingly cared for by the excellent staff: Kim, Michele, Val, Pam, Darryl, Mr. D, Tilah, Janice, Deb, Donna H, Rudo, Chantae, Olivia, Shavonte, Andrick, Willie, Donna C, Taariq, Andrea, Alexzus, Shaniyah, Jerome, Conrad, Morgan, Myra, Stacy, Renetta, Grace, Ankur, Jolene, and Dr. Cheung. Chaplains: Sister Sue, Marsha, Bob and Fr. Dennis. Hospice staff from URMC Home Care: Carolyn, Will, Lindsey, and Joann. In addition the family would like to thank Highland Family Medicine for their years of excellent loving care. She loved her Irish heritage and we leave her with the following prayer: “Though you may be gone from our sight, You will never be gone from our hearts. May the winds of heaven whisper your name, And bring you peace everlasting.” Family and friends may call at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home Thursday 4-7pm. Funeral Mass Friday 10:30am at St. Joseph Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd. Penfield, NY 14526. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Kitchen.
