Marie Kamp

Marie Kamp passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of 64 after an 11 year struggle with cancer. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Harvey who she was married to for over 20 years and two grandchildren, Matthew and Christian. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Jason Wallace and their six children, Melody, Caleb, Daniel, Eli, Nathan, and Luke, as well as her siblings Mark Yelderman, Joan Bohls, Judy Yelderman and Margie Nordt and their spouses, her stepchildren Joel Kamp, Sara Kamp and Jennifer White and their spouses and children, as well as many nieces and nephews. Marie loved Jesus passionately and was best known for having a servant's heart. She loved pouring into people and took on roles that allowed her to do that. She was well loved as a dietetic internship director and instructor at Cornell and Penn State. After retirement, she taught at Roberts Wesleyan, where she was also well loved, especially for bringing cookies to exams. She was active in Community Bible Study, where she was very proud to be the Rochester West Class Coordinator. When she passed she had her commission certificate framed on her desk, and her CBS notebook next to her bed. Her escape was her lake house on Cayuga Lake where she spent every possible minute she could. She enjoyed time there both alone and surrounded by friends and family. She loved food, decorating, cut flowers, bathroom and kitchen remodeling and cruises. She believed every house needed a lot of places to sit and drink coffee, that silverware should always go at the end of a buffet line and that the most important person in any institution was the janitor. But by far, the thing that gave her the most joy in life was her grandchildren. After Harvey's death, she moved up to Rochester to live with Debra and her family, where she was able to pour into their lives with quality time, trips to Great Wolf Lodge, Uber services, and homemade cakes. The Bible verse she focused on was, "My health may fail and my spirit grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart, he is mine forever." Isaiah 73:26 Her family will be having a memorial service open to all in the summer of 2021.
