Hetta L. Smith

Hetta L. Smith Chili: Born September 11, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to the late Loarn & Mary Spiller. Went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at age 80. Predeceased by her loving husband, Albert Smith; and brother, Raymond Spiller. Survived by her children, John (Renee) Spiller, Nichola Kier, Bradley (Heather) White, Brian (Ivette) White, and Brenda (Brian) Buck-Smith; Gramma & B-ma to 11 grandchildren, Colt Spiller, Chelsie (Scott) Nielsen, Chauntelle (Jaren) Gates, Christopher (Janna) Spiller, Jennifer (Tim) Durfee, Michelle (Buddy) Baur, Tyler, Joshua, Jared, Jack & Julia White; and 11 great-grandchildren, Bella Spiller, Jezebel & John Scott Nielsen, Jane Renee, Tanner & Lydia Gates, Eli & Benjamin Spiller, Johnathan Durfee, Grant & Warren Baur. In addition to living in St Louis, Hetta lived all over the country including California, Illinois & Florida, eventually making her way to Rochester, NY where she raised her family. Hetta worked a few office jobs but spent the bulk of her working years at One Step Tree & Lawn Care as one of the key Office Personnel from mid-1980’s until her retirement in 2016. Hetta was a very wonderful & unique woman. She had her own way for just about everything. Something she fondly referred to as “Hetta-logic.” She was a very loving and caring person, but never afraid to say what she was thinking. She especially loved her pets. Dusty, the spoiled rotten shih tzu, and Kraker, her parrot that only a mother could love, were very special to her. Hetta loved being spontaneous and carefree. She could spring into action at the drop of a hat to plan a get together, decorate her yard or plan a vacation. She was forever young at heart, never truly acting her age. She was 50, 60, 70 going on 20! She was always so willing to help if anyone in the family was in need. Quick to put her own needs aside if it meant helping one of us out. Now she has gone on to forever be reunited with her soul mate, Albert. They were two peas in a pod for sure! So very much in love and so very difficult for her without him in her final years. Hetta (Mom, Gramma, B-ma & Friend) is very loved by her family & friends and will be dearly missed. Family & Friends are invited to her Celebration of Life Service Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11 am at the chapel at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Webster Comfort Care Home, 700 Holt Rd. Webster, NY 14580.
