Helen Feeney Taylor

Helen Feeney Taylor, of Henrietta, Hamlin, and Caledonia, was received into the arms of the Lord on May 17, 2026, at the age of 97. She was raised in the Catholic faith and remained devoted to it throughout her life. She prayed the rosary every day and was asked by many to keep them on her prayer list. In her early years, Helen worked at several places, including Woolworth, Kodak, and Gerber Baby Food, until 1962, when she became a full-time homemaker. She was a talented knitter who gifted many sweaters, blankets, and baby items to family and friends that are still being passed on to new generations. She was also an avid reader until she lost her sight later in life and then turned to audiobooks. A Mets fan from the very beginning, she rarely missed a game and was able to attend a few in person. She also cheered faithfully for the Buffalo Bills. She was also known for making the best potato salad and strawberry-rhubarb pie. Until the age of 90, she enjoyed going to the YMCA for water aerobics, socializing, and monthly luncheons. She also loved taking senior bus trips. Helen had many lifelong friends and made new ones wherever she went. At the age of 95, she underwent an aortic valve replacement and inspired others at the hospital with her stamina and quick recovery. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Richard; her son, Jeffrey; her grandson, Samuel; her siblings, Barbara Sullivan and Stephen Feeney; and her dear friend of 80 years, Bernardine Gordon. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Ralph) Alwardt, Nancy (Tom) Allen, and Terry (Bob) Schriever; her son, Jim (Amy) Taylor; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her sisters Mary and Sharon Feeney. She will be deeply missed by many family members and friends, including the two little ones she was so grateful to spend time with. They loved watching Lawrence Welk and baseball with her, and she always kept a special treat for them in her walker. In keeping with Helen's wishes, her service and interment will be private.
